Here we explain the process for editing an existing template. It may be either a Leo pro forma template (Global template) that you want to make more specific to your firm’s brand and requirements, or a template created by the firm that needs to be revised or updated.
To maintain good version control, you won’t be able to edit an existing template if it has already been published (also referred to on Leo as ‘released’). Instead, you’ll need to duplicate the template, creating a new draft template which you can then edit.
Here are the steps to duplicate, edit and update an existing template:
- From the Settings page, click on the Templates icon
- Find the template you wish to duplicate and edit from the alphabetical list of existing templates
- Click the […] to the right of the template name/title and select Duplicate from the options
- You’ll land on the template editing page for your new draft of the duplicated template
- Now follow the steps from the heading Welcome to the Leo Template Editor onwards…
NOTE: once you have duplicated the previous template, you’ll be able to see your new version on the Template landing page. It will be indexed immediately below the previous template, and automatically updated with a new version number.
However, you will need to change the release status of the old and new versions…
Changing the status for the updated/edited Template and the previous version
Once you have edited or updated the new version of the report template, you’ll need to update the status of both the new version and the old version that you’re replacing:
- To activate the new version for users, go to the Template landing page and find the name/title of your new template
- Click the […] to the right of the new template name
- Click Update Status, and choose from Released, Test, Draft or, if your new draft is not right, Unused. (Selecting Unused will delete the template.)
- Check that the Permissions are correct for the updated template. To do this, click the […] to the right of the template name and choose which Groups can view or interact with the template at different levels of access.
- Now that you have released the new template, you will also need to remove the previous version to ensure that no one uses it by mistake. To do this, click the […] to the right of the previous template name and change its status to Unused. This will delete the template.
NOTE: duplicated/updated templates are automatically added to the Module when they are released.
