Template Editor
This article explains what the Template Editor is. Following up you will find 2 more articles explaining the possible uses of Templates on Leo and will guide you through these processes:
- Duplicating, editing, and updating an existing template
- Creating a template from scratch
What is a Template?
A Template on Leo is a framework that you build in the Template Editor, enabling you to create forms or questionnaires to gather information from Leo users.
There are many possible uses for templates. For example, you could create a set of templates for employee end of year reviews, or an attestation template that links to your firm’s compliance manual and policies.
You can edit existing templates designed by Leo, or you can create bespoke templates to fit more specific requirements.
Once a template is finalised, it needs to be assigned to a Report Module. Users can create a report within that Report Module using the template. After completing all questions, the report can be published as a PDF.
Technical skills
Editing or creating templates involves some of the more complicated processes on Leo. Setting up each element of a template takes time, and technical know-how is an advantage. If a member of your team has notable IT skills, they may be the ideal person to edit or create the templates that you need.
Getting help
If you are creating or editing a Template and find that you need assistance beyond this article, please note the stage of the process that you’ve got to and raise a ticket with the Leo support team.
Default Leo Templates
Leo already has a selection of default/pro forma templates (Global Templates) for some essential business needs and processes – such as Attestations. To see a list of existing templates, go to Settings and click on Report Templates / Register Templates, where the Leo default templates (as well as any templates created specifically for your firm) are indexed on the landing page.
You can edit an existing Leo template to fit your firm’s tone and brand more precisely. To do this, you need to create a duplicate of the Leo template and edit the duplicate
Click the 3 dots next to the template you want to use and select Duplicate. Name your new template and add a version number if needed. Tick Control Plan if you wish to schedule each chapter, then click Create Duplicate when finished.
NOTE: The Report Template section of the settings is where we can create and edit report templates. We may want to create a new report template on Leo to gather information on employee end-of-year reviews, or we may want to amend the language given to us in a current template to make it more in line with the tone of our firm.
